This is quite a bad Tutorial. Speaker is almost completely incomprehensible because of his mumbling, tools used are not defined. Brooks replied to use a "rivet setter" in the comments. Yes....thanks...obviously. But which one for god's sake? The Toy-Hammer the Hipster in the Video holds in his hand is ridiculous.

Sorry but this video gets a failing grade from me, and I already have a good idea of what I am doing.

Beware. Tried this, without success. First, removing an old rivet is much harder than indicated. Punching it through requires hard hammering. Then, once it is out of the metal frame, it is still distorted, so pulling it through the leather is difficult to do without enlarging or tearing the hole. If you look closely at the video it looks like the demonstrator is pulling out a clean, unused rivet. No way do they come out that easy. I managed to get new rivets and a rivet peening tool, but the force required to set a rivet is not accurately shown. Even using a heavy hammer with the rivet head on a steel block I could not get one fully set and straight and had to give up trying for fear of making the rivet hole irreparable. A copper rivet might be more feasible but in the meantime I’m left with a rivetless hole in my saddle.

How about showing some detail how it fits under the saddle. Sheesh.

At one time, I had five Brooks saddles on my stable of rides. Two B-67's (of whichI still have one) and one B-17 Flyer, and two B-17 Standards. I also had a large box of "others', some quite expensive, that were all failures. A Brooks is the only way to get a true custom fitting saddle. Every other is just an exercise in repetition of that goal, and are merely compromises.

Now can you do that again please and elaborate a bit more on the bit where you and your mate are looking, turning and twizzling to get the springs in the right position. Is there a right position? Is there an up and a down? Is there a left and a right? I'm watching this video because I have a brand new saddle with intact springs, I'm getting a monstrous cloncking from the saddle and am trying to get rid of it. I've figured out how to undo and do up the nuts by myself and yes it is very fiddly to get them back in. So as pretty as the video is, I'm sorry to say it's pretty useless too. When making your next video, please think about us as complete idiots who don't know nothing, please (I'm not joking)!
